Abstract

Following the seminar Data Visualization - Think before you plot!, I will discuss alternative ways of plotting summary statistics (going away from bar charts and using alternative options like boxplots or violin plots, also in combination with raw data). This will be followed by an introduction into the R package ggplot2. I will talk about different elements of a ggplot, including aesthetics, geoms, themes, scales, annotations and legend. Finally, I will introduce facetting and dealing multiple panels.
